Painted Terracotta Pots

Plain clay pots become cheerful planters with acrylic paint and simple patterns. A perfect afternoon project, and a lovely handmade gift.

You will need

  • Terracotta pots, any size
  • Acrylic craft paint
  • Painter's tape for clean lines
  • Clear sealer spray (optional)

Prep the pots

Wipe pots clean and let dry. Apply painter's tape for stripes or geometric sections.

Paint two coats

Paint with acrylics, two thin coats. Peel tape while the second coat is slightly tacky.

Seal and plant

Spray with clear sealer for outdoor use, then add your favorite plant.

Tip: Warm white plus one bold color (terracotta, sage, mustard) always looks designer-made.
